Maintenance Assistance & Driver

Work under the direction of the Camp Director to ensure a safe, clean camp (Maintain the grounds and facilities to reduce the risk of danger and/or injury to persons using the camp).
Picking up staff members at airports, bus stops, etc. during pre-camp (before Staff Development), post-camp and before and after all staff breaks.
While in season, be available to do any driving that is required. This includes transporting children, staff and running errands.
Teach and monitor proper use of seat belts, safe loading and unloading, proper behavior and other aspects of vehicle safety.
Check vehicles before and after each trip for gas, oil, tire pressure and damage, etc.
Keep mileage records on all trips, number of participants, destination, time of departure and arrival.
Clean and maintain vehicles with complete first aid kit, fire extinguisher, reflectors, and other safety equipment, coordinating vehicle repairs with the Camp Director.
Be familiar with and follow procedures for reporting accidents, injuries, incidents, safety checks, backing up, loading and unloading, and vehicle breakdown.
Assist in loading, unloading, transporting equipment, and stocking canteen.
Assist in the opening and closing of camp with parking Corps vehicles and other duties as assigned by Camp Director.

Availability to begin employment during pre-camp (before Leadership Development) through final Youth Camp Clean Up for airport pickups and drop offs.
Valid Driver's License
Approval from Chesterfield (our insurance company) to drive Salvation Army vehicles
Complete Summit's Decision Driving & Salvation Army 12 and 15 Passenger Vans online training
Interest in and some skill in working property maintenance.
New Jersey Working Papers, if under 18 years old.
Ability to work with children
Ability to relate to one's peer group
Ability to accept guidance, supervision, instruction
Good character, integrity, and adaptability
Enthusiasm, sense of humor, patience and self-control

Don't Be Fooled

The fraudster will send a check to the victim who has accepted a job. The check can be for multiple reasons such as signing bonus, supplies, etc. The victim will be instructed to deposit the check and use the money for any of these reasons and then instructed to send the remaining funds to the fraudster. The check will bounce and the victim is left responsible.
